UF Roundup: Gators women's tennis collect SEC postseason awards

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Five members of the Florida women's tennis team were selected by SEC coaches to a variety of the league's postseason awards, including spots on the first and second-team All‐SEC and the All‐Freshman team, the conference office announced Thursday.

Ingrid Neel, Josie Kuhlman and Belinda Woolcock each were honored with spots on the All-SEC first team, while Kourtney Keegan and Anna Danilina collected All-SEC second-team accolades. Neel was voted to the All-SEC Freshman Team.


Gators host Tom Jones Memorial

Florida will host its second and final home track and field meet of the season, the Tom Jones Memorial, today at Percy Beard Track on campus.

The Gators, ranked No. 2 on the men's side and No. 6 on the women's side, are looking to add to their large bundle of NCAA East Preliminary qualifying times and marks. Two of them could come from Anders Eriksson (hammer throw) and Kunle Fasasi (400 meters), who both open their outdoor seasons today. Eriksson won the SEC title and finished fifth at NCAA Outdoors last year, while Fasasi took sixth place in the 400 final at NCAA Outdoors last June.

There is no admission charge to the event, which starts at 11 a.m. after gates open at 10 a.m. Parking is available free of charge at the UF Law School.


Gators at Georgia

The No. 9 Florida baseball team hits the road this weekend, taking on Georgia in a three-game series in Athens at Foley Field. The series opener is 7 p.m. today. Saturday's game is set for a 2 p.m. start and 1 p.m. Sunday.

UF (27-13, 10-8 SEC) throws ace Alex Faedo (6-1, 2.47 ERA) against Georgia (16-25, 5-13) lefty Andrew Gist (2-3, 3.99 ERA).


Florida faces UT

Top-ranked Florida looks to conclude the regular season of SEC play this weekend against Tennessee in Knoxville at Sherri Lee Parker Stadium. The first game of the series is scheduled for 6 p.m. today.

Saturday fans can watch the Gators (44-3, 18-2 SEC) and the Volunteers (41-6, 13-4) online via the SEC Network + which is available on WatchESPN.com or the WatchESPN app. The final game of the series will be available on ESPN2. All Florida softball games this season are carried on radio by WGGG (92.1 FM/1230 AM) & WMOP (100.1 FM/900 AM).

The Gators sit at the top of the SEC standings and have the opportunity to clinch their third straight regular-season title.


Gators top seed at NCAA Regional

ORLANDO — The SEC champion Florida women's golf team was selected as the No. 1 seed for the NCAA Columbus Regional, hosted by Ohio State University, from May 8-10. The No. 5 Gators will attempt to advance to the NCAA Championships for the 27th time in school history.

The NCAA selected a total of 72 teams and 24 individuals to participate in Division I Women's Regionals May 8-10 at four different locations. The top six teams and three individuals from each site will advance to the NCAA Championship May 19-24 in Sugar Grove, Ill. at Rich Harvest Farms.
