Lacrosse: No. 2 Gators start NCAA Tournament at home

No. 2 Florida will host the first two rounds of the NCAA Division I Women's Lacrosse Tournament this weekend as the No. 3 overall seed.

Southern Cal (16-3) will play Jacksonville (14-5) in the first round at 4 p.m. Friday at Donald R. Dizney Stadium. Florida, the three-time Big East Tournament champion, earned a first-round bye and will play Friday's winner at 12 p.m. Sunday. Should UF advance, it would also host a quarterfinal next weekend.

Maryland and North Carolina are the tourney's top two seeds.

The four quarterfinal games will be played Saturday, May 20 or Sunday, May 21. These preliminary-round games will be played on the campuses of competing institutions. The winners of the four quarterfinal games will advance to the semifinals and final hosted by the University of Massachusetts Amherst, May 26 and 28 at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

The semifinal games will be shown live on ESPN3 at 5 and 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 26. The championship game will air live on ESPNU on Sunday, May 28 at 11 a.m
