Jefferson sets mark; UF finishes 5th

The Florida women's outdoor track and field team finished in fifth place with 39 points at the NCAA meet Saturday. Oregon won the title at 64 points, followed by Georgia (62.2), Southern Cal (43) and Kentucky (40).

Kyra Jefferson set the collegiate record to win the 200-meter dash in 22.02 seconds for UF's lone NCAA individual title. Jefferson bettered the record of 22.04 set by LSU's Dawn Sowell in 1989.

UF had a third-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay and Yanis David in the triple jump. Sharrika Barnett finished fifth in the 400-meter race Saturday.

Senior javelin thrower Marija Vucenovic finished second in the event Thursday.
