Former Florida standout Austin Maddox is back in the Major Leagues, hopefully longer than the cup of coffee he's kept drinking from this season.

The Boston Red Sox recalled the right-handed reliever from Pawtucket. To recall Maddox, the Red Sox optioned lefty Robby Scott back to the PawSox.

Maddox, 26, last appeared in an MLB game with the Red Sox on July 16, pitching 1 2/3 innings in a 3-0 loss to the New York Yankees. Maddox has appeared in three MLB games this year, recording two strikeouts and surrendering four hits and zero runs in 3 2/3 innings.

In the minors, Maddox is 2-3 with five saves and a 3.20 ERA over 29 games between Double-A Portland and Triple-A Pawtucket this season, and threw a perfect seventh inning of relief just one night ago, in a loss to the Indianapolis Indians.
